Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of esteemed Islamic scholar and Chief Imam of Dutsen Tanshi Jummaat Mosque, Dr. Idris Abdulaziz, who died on April 3, 2025, at the age of 68 after a prolonged illness.
In a heartfelt condolence message, Malami described the late Dr. Abdulaziz as a beacon of knowledge and a dedicated teacher who spent his life promoting Islamic monotheism (Tauhid) and enlightening society through sermons, scholarship, and unwavering devotion to the faith.
“Dr. Abdulaziz was a towering figure in Islamic scholarship whose teachings reached thousands across Nigeria and beyond. His firm stance on Tauhid and his commitment to the propagation of Islam have left an indelible impact on the Muslim Ummah and our nation,” Malami stated.
He further noted that the scholar’s moral guidance, educational efforts, and role in community development earned him the respect and admiration of followers both offline and online.
While mourning his demise, Malami prayed for divine mercy upon Dr. Abdulaziz, asking Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, grant him Jannatul Firdaus, and comfort his family, students, and numerous followers left behind.
“May his soul rest in eternal peace,” he concluded.
