The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dragged Senator Ned Munir Nwoko before the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking to oust him from the Delta North Senatorial seat following his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In the suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/454/2025 and filed by its counsel, Dr. Ayo Asala (SAN), the PDP is urging the court to declare the seat vacant and compel the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a by-election.
Nwoko, listed as the first defendant, is joined in the suit by the Senate President and INEC as the second and third defendants, respectively.
The party is also demanding that Nwoko refund all salaries, allowances, and benefits received since his defection, citing Section 68(1)(g) of the 1999 Constitution, which mandates that any lawmaker who switches parties without justifiable cause must forfeit their seat.
Additionally, the PDP is asking the court to order the Senate President and INEC to declare the seat vacant without delay.
As the legal battle heats up, political observers are watching closely to see how this high-stakes showdown will unfold.
