In a stunning revelation, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has accused his successor, Governor Uba Sani, of siphoning local government funds and converting them into dollars to purchase properties in Seychelles, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.
Speaking during a public engagement, El-Rufai insisted that under his administration, local government allocations remained untouched.
"When I was governor, I never took a kobo from local government funds. Once we set aside allocations for SUBEB, primary healthcare, and other essentials, we gave them their money. Both PDP and APC chairmen can testify," he declared.
El-Rufai alleged that the current administration systematically drains local government allocations, leaving each LGA with no more than N50 million per month after funds are allegedly funneled abroad.
"They thought we were ignorant, but we have all the records. We know how they divert the money, the bureau de change they use, and the properties they acquire abroad," he asserted.
The former governor also accused Uba Sani of demanding a staggering 40% kickback on contracts, allegedly traveling to Abuja with contract documents to secure bribes.
"They thought that was how we ran the government, but they are wrong," he said, challenging any contractor who had ever bribed him to come forward.
