In a groundbreaking revelation, the Federal Government has announced that Nigeria's healthcare sector has improved so significantly that patients from the United States and the United Kingdom are now seeking medical care in the country.
The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, made this known while addressing State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, presided over by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Tuesday, February 4.
“People are now beginning to come from the subregion, and even from faraway places like the UK and the US, to receive quality healthcare in Nigeria. Despite the challenges we face, significant progress is being made, and the transformation promised by President Tinubu is already taking shape,” Pate declared.
This development signals a paradigm shift in Nigeria’s medical sector, once plagued by an exodus of professionals and medical tourism abroad. Under President Tinubu’s administration, the government has intensified efforts to revamp healthcare infrastructure, retain skilled professionals, and restore confidence in local medical services.
