In a decisive operation against insurgency, Nigerian troops have neutralized a notorious terrorist commander, Maikusa, along with three of his key lieutenants. The operation, which took place in Katsina State, also led to the clearing of several terrorist enclaves, marking a significant victory for the military in its fight against terrorism.

The Defense Headquarters confirmed that the operation was part of an intensified offensive to rid the Northwest region of criminal elements. Troops conducted a coordinated assault on the hideouts following actionable intelligence on the terrorists' movements.

A military spokesperson noted, "The successful elimination of Maikusa and his associates is a clear indication of the Nigerian Army's resolve to secure the region. This operation will disrupt their operations and diminish their capacity to perpetrate further attacks."

Residents in the affected communities have expressed relief and gratitude to the security forces for restoring peace and stability. Many hope that the ongoing efforts will pave the way for the safe return of displaced persons and the revival of economic activities in the region.

The Federal Government has commended the troops for their bravery and urged them to sustain the momentum in eradicating terrorism nationwide. Meanwhile, security experts stress the importance of community cooperation and intelligence-sharing to ensure lasting peace.

This operation underscores the military’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and properties of Nigerians, reinforcing hope for a more secure and prosperous future.
