As Nigeria welcomes the year 2025, the Director General of the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA), Umar Ibrahim Mohammed, extends his heartfelt greetings to all Nigerians, wishing them a prosperous, successful, and healthy new year.
In his New Year message, the Director General underscored the vital role of sustainable water resource management and reaffirmed NIHSA’s unwavering commitment to effective flood prevention strategies nationwide. He stated:
“As we begin 2025, this new year offers a fresh opportunity for renewed hope, progress, and a strengthened commitment to protecting the lives and properties of Nigerians. At NIHSA, we remain dedicated to delivering accurate hydrological data, enhancing flood prediction capabilities, improving early warning systems, and safeguarding Nigeria’s precious water resources.”
He further emphasized the agency’s resolve to support national development by reducing disaster risks, strengthening resilience to climate change impacts, and equipping Nigerian communities to address hydrological challenges more effectively.
