Governor Abba Yusuf Makes Fresh Appointments, to Swear in New Commissioners Monday

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has announced a series of strategic appointments aimed at enhancing his administration’s commitment to good governance and service delivery.

In a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the new appointments take immediate effect. Among the appointees is Hon. Ahmad Muhammad Speaker, who has been named Special Adviser on Publicity. Hon. Ahmad, a seasoned administrator, previously served three terms as Chairman of Dawakin Tofa Local Government and was the former APC State Organizing Secretary.

Engr. Ahmad Ishaq Bunkurw has also been appointed as Special Adviser on Works, reflecting the administration's renewed focus on infrastructure development. Similarly, Tijjani Abubakar Kaura Goje has been promoted to Special Adviser for the Lagos Liaison Office.

Malam Sani Abdullahi Tofa, a respected figure with an extensive background in public service, was named Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties. Malam Tofa’s experience includes serving as a Khadi in Kano and Abuja, a retired Permanent Secretary in the Kano State Civil Service, and the former Director General of the Kano State Shari’a Commission.

In addition, Hon. Ibrahim Jibrin Fagge has been appointed Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, while Hajia Ladidi Ibrahim Garko will serve as Chairman of the Kano State Civil Service Commission. Both appointees were formerly Commissioners of Finance and Tourism, respectively.

The Governor’s statement also disclosed that the swearing-in ceremony for the newly appointed officials will take place on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Ante-Chamber of the Kano Government House. The event will include the inauguration of seven newly screened commissioner nominees, alongside the recently appointed Special Advisers.

These appointments demonstrate Governor Yusuf’s determination to build a capable and dynamic team to advance Kano State's development agenda.
