Gov. Abba Yusuf Signs N719 Billion Appropriation Bill Into Law for 2025 Fiscal Year

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has signed into law the 2025 appropriation bill, amounting to N719,755,417,663. This marks a significant step in his administration's commitment to fostering economic development and addressing the needs of Kano State.

The budget allocates N262,670,660,562.68 (36%) to recurrent expenditure, while N457,804,757,100.32 (64%) is earmarked for capital projects. This distribution underscores the administration’s focus on infrastructural development and impactful initiatives.

At the signing ceremony held on Tuesday at the Government House, Governor Yusuf emphasized the administration's dedication to fully implementing the fiscal plan. A statement by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, reiterated the governor’s pledge to prioritize economic growth, quality education, healthcare, and other essential sectors in the coming year.

Dubbed the "Budget of Hope, Human Capital, and Economic Development," the governor highlighted the strategic allocation of resources to social welfare and poverty alleviation programs. "We are committed to improving the lives of our citizens through investments in infrastructure, poverty alleviation initiatives, and economic growth," Yusuf stated.

He further assured, "Our administration will deliver quality healthcare services, drive agricultural growth, and enhance social welfare programs. The 2025 budget is dedicated to building a prosperous and inclusive Kano State."

The Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jibrin Ismail Falgore, who presented the bill for assent, noted that the budget size was increased after public hearings to incorporate critical developmental needs. Initially proposed at N549,160,417,663.00 on November 8, 2024, the budget was adjusted upwards by over N170 billion to address pressing priorities.

Falgore called for the full implementation of the budget to meet the aspirations of the people, urging the administration to ensure the funds are utilized effectively.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam, principal officers of the State House of Assembly, and select members of the State Executive Council.

Governor Yusuf’s commitment to this expansive budget underscores his administration’s determination to bring tangible progress and sustainable development to Kano State.
