Benin City, Edo State, witnessed a grand celebration yesterday as political elites, dignitaries, and well-wishers united to mark the birthday of Dr. Mary Idele Alile, the highly respected APC National Women Leader. The event was not only a tribute to her personal milestones but also a testament to her unwavering dedication to women's empowerment, unity, and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The festivities commenced at Dr. Alile's residence, where she shared warm moments with her husband, Hon. Pius Alile, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Edo State Governor, and their children. Guests from across the country arrived with heartfelt tributes and gifts, filling the air with joy and admiration.
Notable groups, including the APC Igbo Group (Edo State Chapter) and APC State Women Leaders from all 36 states and the FCT, were in attendance. Known as the "Mother of Hardwork," Dr. Alile was celebrated with vibrant singing, dancing, and stirring speeches, reflecting her pivotal role in fostering progress and unity.
Representatives of the African Mothers Initiative (AMI), led by Amb. P. Mrs. Margaret Mkpanam and Princess Barr Fina, also graced the occasion. They presented special gifts and commended her visionary leadership. In response, Dr. Alile praised the group’s dedication to impactful change, calling them “timely agents of transformation.”
The evening culminated in a lavish dinner attended by luminaries, including Hon. Duro Maseiko, wife of Edo State’s Deputy Governor, and Hon. Pius Odubu, former Deputy Governor of Edo State. The atmosphere brimmed with camaraderie as speakers highlighted Dr. Alile’s pivotal role in national development.
In heartfelt tributes, Hon. Pius Alile applauded his wife’s commitment to gender equality and societal upliftment, while Hon. Donald Omokpia emphasized her unifying influence in Edo State and beyond.
A thanksgiving ceremony at a local church brought the day to a reflective close. Dr. Alile, in her address, reiterated her dedication to championing women’s rights and fostering national progress. Her multifaceted impact as a pastor, politician, and trailblazer has earned her widespread admiration and the affectionate moniker "Madam Capacity."
