Former Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, has announced his resignation from the People's Democratic Party (PDP). In a letter addressed to the PDP National Chairman and dated January 8, 2025, Bafarawa described his decision as “deeply personal and difficult” but one necessitated by his commitment to a new vision of empowering Nigeria's youth.
“I have recently dedicated myself to a new youth movement that seeks to inspire, empower, and transform the lives of our young people, who are the bedrock of our nation’s future,” Bafarawa stated, signaling a bold transition into a phase focused on societal transformation.
Acknowledging the PDP’s contributions to Nigeria’s democratic development, Bafarawa highlighted his intention to avoid potential conflicts of interest while he embarks on this mission. He noted that his focus will now be on creating platforms for youth empowerment, fostering innovation, and promoting values essential for a prosperous and united Nigeria.
