On December 6, 2024, Iran achieved a major milestone in its space program by launching its heaviest payload yet into orbit. The Simorgh carrier rocket successfully deployed the Fakhr-1 telecommunications satellite and the Saman-1 space tug, both of which represent significant advancements in Iran's aerospace capabilities.
