President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alongside First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has commenced a momentous three-day State Visit to France, aimed at deepening Nigeria-France relations and fostering mutual growth.
Arriving at Orly Airport on Wednesday evening, President Tinubu was received with full military honours by the French Republican Guard, underscoring the significance of his visit. This grand reception set the stage for the official engagements, which began at the iconic Les Invalides in Paris. There, French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron formally welcomed the Nigerian leader.
At the heart of this visit lies a robust agenda to strengthen bilateral ties, with a focus on critical areas such as agriculture, security, education, health, youth engagement, innovation, and energy transition. Through these discussions, Nigeria stands to benefit significantly from shared expertise and collaborative projects.
A key highlight of the visit is President Tinubu’s collaboration with President Macron on youth-oriented initiatives, aimed at fostering exchange programs and equipping Nigerian youth with skills in automation, entrepreneurship, and leadership. This initiative underscores the commitment of both nations to empowering future generations.
In addition, the leaders will engage in high-level political and diplomatic talks on critical issues, including trade, solid minerals, finance, and investment. A significant session with the France-Nigeria Business Council will also promote private-sector collaboration to drive economic development.
Meanwhile, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu and her French counterpart, Brigitte Macron, will focus on strategies to uplift women, children, and vulnerable populations through Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Initiative.
Capping off the visit, the Tinubus will attend a state dinner hosted by President Macron at the Palais de l'Élysée, celebrating the enduring partnership between the two nations.
This visit represents a new chapter in Nigeria-France relations, promising not only strengthened ties but also tangible progress across key sectors.
