In response to recent media reports concerning the ongoing legal proceedings against Mr. Nnamdi Emeh, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has reiterated its commitment to a fair and transparent judicial process, highlighting that the case remains firmly in the hands of the judiciary, free from police influence.
The NPF clarified that Mr. Emeh’s arrest followed credible allegations, with a thorough investigation conducted before the charges were formally filed. He was subsequently arraigned at the Federal High Court, Awka, as per legal requirements. According to the police, the matter is now in the jurisdiction of the court, which has the exclusive authority to assess evidence, set bail conditions, and proceed in accordance with the law. Mr. Emeh was granted bail based on the court's stipulations, which he must fulfill without turning to the media for sympathy.
ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, emphasized that the judiciary operates independently, and the police have no role in influencing the court’s decisions. The NPF also affirmed its dedication to upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice, investigating allegations against all individuals impartially, and adhering to professional standards.
In light of the ongoing trial, the police urge the public and media to allow the legal process to unfold without undue speculation or interference. The Force appealed for responsible reporting, stressing that the judiciary’s integrity must be respected to achieve a fair outcome.
