In a significant step toward supporting the federal government's employment creation and affordable transportation goals, the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF) has announced a strategic partnership with the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (Pi-CNG). The initiative aims to spread good causes across the country by equipping young Nigerians with valuable skills in CNG vehicle conversion and repairs.
During a courtesy visit to the Pi-CNG headquarters in Abuja, NLTF's Executive Secretary, Comrade Tosin Adeyanju, commended the initiative introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to promote cheaper and more accessible gas alternatives for the public. He emphasized the importance of the collaboration in creating new opportunities for entrepreneurship and technical training.
“We want to explore ways we can partner with you to equip young Nigerians with skills in CNG vehicle conversion and repairs, creating a new generation of entrepreneurs and technicians," Adeyanju stated. He further added, "We want this partnership to be a game-changer for Nigerian youth, providing training for rural mechanics on the repairs of CNG vehicles."
Engineer Mike Oluwagbemi, the Programme Director of the Presidential CNG Initiative, expressed appreciation for the Executive Secretary's collaborative approach, which aligns with the Pi-CNG's ambitious plan to deploy one million CNG vehicles by 2027. The initiative is set to begin with 21,000 units and aims to reach 150,000 by 2024.
"The Executive Secretary's leadership has been instrumental in driving this vision forward. His dedication to uplifting the marginalized is truly inspiring," Oluwagbemi remarked, acknowledging Adeyanju's commitment to making a difference in the lives of young Nigerians.
This partnership marks a significant stride in promoting sustainable transportation and empowering youth with skills that will pave the way for economic growth and job creation in the country.
