The Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) represented by her Desk Officer, Director Engineering Hydrology Mrs. Fashe Adam, FNAH, on Tuesday 13th August, 2024 handed over monitoring boreholes, a World Bank sponsored project to the Director General of the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA), Hon. Umar Ibrahim Mohammed.The boreholes was passed on to the Director, Hydrogeology Department, Mr. James Bisong for onward usage.
The Director General expressed his gratitude for the donation and emphasized the importance of sustainable water management practices. He also highlighted the role of the hydrogeology department in ensuring the efficient use of ground water resources and protecting the environment.
This initiative is part of NEWMAP's efforts to address erosion and watershed management issues in Nigeria.The monitoring boreholes will help provide clean and safe drinking water to communities in need.
