The Director General, Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA), Umar Ibrahim Mohammed, along with the Director Operational Hydrology, Pastor Femi Bejide, paid an official visit to the Chairman House Committee on Hydrological Services, Hon. Paschal Agbodike.
During the meeting, the Director General highlighted the importance of proactive measures in preventing flooding in Nigeria, especially in light of the increasing frequency and severity of flooding events in recent years. He emphasized the need for improved coordination and collaboration between various stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, and development partners.
The Chairman of the House Committee on Hydrological Services expressed his support for the agency's efforts and pledged to work closely with them to address the issue of flooding in Nigeria. He also stressed the importance of adequate funding and resources to implement effective flood prevention measures.
In addition to discussing flood prevention strategies, the Director General and the Chairman also took the time to offer their condolences to the people of Jigawa State for the tragic loss of lives and Properties caused by flood. They expressed their commitment to working together to prevent such disasters from happening in the future.
Both parties agreed to continue working together to develop and implement strategies to mitigate the impact of flooding in Nigeria, including early warning systems, infrastructure improvements, and community awareness programs. They also discussed the need for long-term planning and sustainable solutions to address the root causes of flooding in the country.
