In a significant step towards promoting environmental sustainability and technological advancement, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, launched the Nigeria Police Green Initiative at the Nigeria Police Resource Centre in Jabi, Abuja, on July 25, 2024. This initiative aims to integrate eco-friendly practices and renewable energy sources into police operations and facilities, thereby reducing the environmental footprint of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

The launch event featured activities such as tree planting, the establishment of green zones within police formations, and the promotion of sustainable practices among police personnel. President Tinubu emphasized the NPF's role in contributing to global efforts against climate change, underlining the importance of protecting the environment for future generations.

On July 24, 2024, President Tinubu, represented by Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Honorable Minister of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy, inaugurated two landmark NPF projects: the National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) and the NPF Resource Centre. The NPF-NCCC, an ultramodern facility, will serve as the central hub for combating cybercrime, utilizing advanced technology to enhance operational capabilities. The NPF Resource Centre, equipped with state-of-the-art conference halls and accommodation spaces, is designed to support training, conferences, and workshops, fostering professional development and collaboration.

During the commissioning, Dr. Tijani reiterated the Federal Government's commitment to investing in the NPF through the provision of equipment, facilities, and training. He highlighted the significance of the NPF-NCCC in upholding national security and aligning with President Tinubu's reformation agenda, calling for interagency collaboration to eliminate inter-agency rivalry.

Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his support in advancing police technology. He assured that the NPF would utilize these projects to enhance professionalism and effectively combat cybercrime in Nigeria.
