Kogi Lawmaker Paul Haruna Under Fire for Donating Well to Constituents

By Mohammed Bello Doka

A recent initiative by a member of the Progressives Congress and former Kogi State House of Assembly member, Paul G. Haruna, has sparked controversy among residents of the Dekina/Bassa Federal constituency.

The project in question, a well constructed by the lawmaker, has been met with significant backlash from the community. Residents shared their displeasure with SaharaReporters, highlighting their concerns over the inadequacy of the project.
One resident lamented, "This is a project from a House of Representatives member representing Dekina/Bassa Federal constituency. What a shame, not even a mechanized hand pump."

Another echoed this sentiment, expressing frustration over the perceived neglect by their elected official. "It’s glaring these politicians don’t rate us, a federal lawmaker constructing a well and celebrating it as an achievement," the resident remarked.

The criticism underscores a growing discontent with the quality and scope of development projects initiated by political leaders in the area.
