In a decisive blow to terrorism plaguing the North East and North West regions of Nigeria, the courageous troops of the Nigerian Army have executed a series of successful counter-terrorism operations, resulting in the elimination of six Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists, the rescue of 48 hostages, and the recovery of significant weaponry.

The operation unfolded during a daring fighting patrol in the Fulatari and Kago villages of Gwoza Local Government Area in Borno State. Amidst intense gunfire exchanges, the valiant troops confronted the terrorists, forcing them to retreat and abandon their captives. The swift and strategic action of the troops led to the liberation of one adult male, 20 adult females, and 27 children, who had endured the harrowing ordeal of captivity. Additionally, the troops seized a Phantom Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC), a 60mm mortar tube, a bandolier, three AK-47 rifle magazines, five rounds of 7.62mm x 51mm ammunition, and even a bicycle, effectively neutralizing the terrorists' capacity to inflict further harm.

In a meticulously coordinated effort, troops, alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force and Hybrid Forces Group, launched an offensive operation targeting terrorist strongholds in Garin Gulukos and Sabil Huda. This tactical maneuver resulted in the confiscation and depletion of the terrorists' logistical support, including a Hilux vehicle, a Canter Troops Carrying Vehicle, 7 rounds of 7.62 x 51mm ammunition, 2 motorbikes, four bicycles, three solar panels, a power generating set, an HP laser jet printer, and a mobile phone without a SIM card. To disrupt the terrorists' operations further, a serviceable borehole within their enclave was destroyed.

In a parallel operation in Zamfara State, troops engaged in offensive maneuvers to eradicate terrorists' enclaves in Abaniyawa, Dokau, Yar Dutsi, Kungurki, and Babba Saura areas of Kaura Namoda and Tsafe Local Government Areas. Though the terrorists attempted resistance in Kaura Namoda, they ultimately fled during the fierce firefight, abandoning an AK-47 Rifle, one magazine with 5 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and a motorcycle. In addition to neutralizing the terrorists' armaments, troops demolished their life support structures, dealing a significant blow to their operational capabilities.

These coordinated operations demonstrate the unwavering commitment of the Nigerian Army to combat terrorism and ensure the safety and security of all citizens. The bravery and dedication exhibited by the troops in the face of adversity exemplify their resolve to eradicate the scourge of terrorism from Nigerian soil.
