In a significant move to boost agricultural productivity, the federal government, through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), is set to distribute 2.15 million bags of assorted fertilizers. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a series of notable appointments, marking a major step in strengthening the governance of Nigeria's tertiary institutions. A total of 555 individuals have been appointed as chairmen and members of the governing councils of various tertiary institutions across the country. This move fulfills a key demand of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), demonstrating the government's commitment to addressing educational sector challenges.

Former INEC Chairman, Attahiru Jega, has been appointed as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Board of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Sokoto State. Former Governor of Bauchi State, Isa Yugudu, will serve as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Open University of Nigeria. Former Governor of Zamfara State, Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi, has been appointed as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal University in Jos, Plateau State.
Furthermore, former Governor of Adamawa State, Bala Ngalari, will take on the role of Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Board of the University of Calabar, Cross River State. Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Yayale Ahmed, has been named the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Board of Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Kaduna State. Former Governor of Ebonyi State, Martin Nwanchor Elechi, has been appointed as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa State.
