The G60 Support Group has issued a scathing rebuke of EFCC Chairman Mr. Ola Olukoyede, calling for his immediate dismissal due to what they describe as his unprofessional conduct and personalization of the institution.
In a strongly worded statement, the group criticized Olukoyede's handling of a case involving a former governor, accusing him of turning the matter into a media spectacle and displaying a lack of decorum befitting his position. They expressed concern over Olukoyede's remarks at a press conference, where he allegedly made personal comments and offered favors to the former governor under investigation.
The group questioned Olukoyede's motives and highlighted the importance of maintaining institutional integrity, especially for an organization like the EFCC with international attention. They condemned his actions as detrimental to the credibility of the institution and called for his removal to restore public trust.
Furthermore, the group emphasized the need for corporate professionalism in addressing sensitive legal matters and criticized Olukoyede for his apparent bias and interference in ongoing investigations. They called on relevant authorities to take swift action and remove Olukoyede from his position, citing his failure to uphold the principles of impartiality and integrity.
In closing, the group's Director of Information, Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed, expressed doubt over Olukoyede's ability to resign gracefully, given his perceived mishandling of the situation. He lamented the erosion of trust in a key institution tasked with upholding the rule of law and called for accountability at all levels.
