Troops Crush Terrorists' Stronghold in Zamfara, Recover Arms and Motorbikes

In a decisive blow to terrorism in the North West region, Nigerian Army troops launched a targeted clearance operation on Monday, 15th April 2024, dismantling a notorious terrorist enclave in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State. Acting on credible intelligence, the gallant troops engaged in a fierce gun battle with the terrorists, resulting in the neutralization of 12 terrorists and the recovery of significant weaponry.

During the operation, the troops seized one AK-47 rifle, one magazine, 12 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and two locally fabricated guns. Furthermore, they captured 10 operational motorbikes, crucial for the terrorists' mobility, and liberated 18 rustled cows. The successful mission not only disrupted the terrorists' activities but also dealt a significant blow to their operational capabilities.

The Nigerian Army's commitment to combating terrorism and insurgency was reaffirmed through this operation, demonstrating their unwavering dedication to ensuring the safety and security of citizens. Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, emphasized the Army's resolve to sustain the momentum in eradicating terrorism from the North West and other troubled regions.
