As IGP Orders Commencement of Disciplinary Action
In a recent development, officers of the Nigeria Police attached to the Special Tactical Squad in Abuja have been apprehended for their involvement in a significant case of extortion. It was reported that the officers extorted a member of the public of the sum of Thirty Million, Three Hundred Thousand Naira (N30,300,000), prompting swift action from the Force upon receiving the report via the X Platform.
The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has taken decisive steps to address this misconduct. He has ordered the commencement of disciplinary proceedings to ensure that justice is served swiftly and decisively. This action underscores the Nigeria Police Force's zero-tolerance stance towards any form of misconduct or corruption among its ranks.
The arrested officers and their accomplices, who initially attempted to evade capture, are currently in custody. The IGP emphasized the importance of holding accountable those who have violated the trust placed in them by the public. Such behavior not only tarnishes the reputation of the Force but also undermines efforts to maintain law and order in the country.
