Surge of High-Profile Defections and APC's Electoral Preparedness

In a groundbreaking development, Governors, Senators, and House of Representatives members are set to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) from opposition parties, as revealed by the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje. The move is part of the party's strategy to solidify its dominance in Nigerian politics.

Speaking in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, Ganduje expressed confidence in the APC's ability to maintain its winning streak, particularly in the upcoming bye elections nationwide. He emphasized the party's determination to deepen and widen democracy in Nigeria, unveiling a blueprint to secure more Governors, Senators, and House of Representatives members.

Simultaneously, the APC welcomed Senator Solomon Ewuga, a prominent figure from the People's Democratic Party (PDP), into its ranks in Nasarawa State. The event marked a significant step in achieving the party's objective of embracing individuals from diverse political backgrounds, making APC the largest political party in Africa with a mosaic of nationalities and religious affiliations.

In another move to strengthen its position, the APC selected candidates for bye-elections in Ebonyi, Lagos, Taraba, and other locations. This underscores the party's commitment to ensuring competent representation across various regions.

Professor Anthony Ani emerged as the APC candidate for the Ebonyi South senatorial zone. The primary election held in Afikpo saw Ani securing 281 out of 285 votes cast, establishing him as the consensus choice. The bye-election, scheduled for February 3rd, 2024, was triggered by the appointment of Senator David Umahi as Minister by President Tinubu.

*Succession in Surulere and Akoko Northwest/Akoko Northeast*

Fuad Kayode-Laguda clinched the APC candidacy in Surulere Constituency 1 of Lagos State, succeeding Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, who vacated the seat after his appointment as Chief of Staff to President Tinubu. In the Akoko Northwest/Akoko Northeast Federal Constituency, Ifeoluwa Ehindero emerged victorious with 105 votes, filling the void left by Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, appointed as Minister of Interior.
