In a significant move towards enhancing the efficiency and transparency of the National Hajj Commission (NAHCOM), President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed a dynamic board and management team. This decision, aimed at ensuring a smooth 2024 Hajj season, awaits confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.
Heading the newly appointed team is *Jalal Arabi* as Chairman. His leadership, effective immediately, signals a fresh chapter for NAHCOM.
The commissioners selected to steer crucial aspects of the commission are:
1. Aliu Abdulrazaq — Commissioner, Policy, Personnel, & Finance
2. Prince Anofi Elegushi — Commissioner, Operations
3. Professor Abubakar A. Yagawal — Commissioner, Planning & Research
To ensure regional representation and inclusivity, the President has designated individuals for zonal roles:
- Dr. Muhammad Umaru Ndagi — North Central
- Abba Jato Kala — North East
- Sheikh Muhammad Bin Othman — North West
- Tajudeen Oladejo Abefe — South West
- Aishat Obi Ahmed — South East
- Zainab Musa — South South
- Professor Musa Inuwa Fodio — Jama'atul Nasril Islam
- Professor Adedimeji Mahfouz Adebola — Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs
President Tinubu emphasizes the commitment of the appointees to ensuring that NAHCOM's operations become more efficient, transparent, and responsive to the needs of Nigerians. This strategic move is poised to leave an indelible mark on the pilgrimage experience for Nigerian Muslims.
