EduGate: More Trouble as Code of Conduct Tribunal Summons Tunji Ojo

By Mohammed Bello Doka

In a widening scandal, Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, is under the Code of Conduct Bureau's scrutiny following revelations of a N438 million payment from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management. The payment, authorized by the now-suspended minister, Dr. Betta Edu, who is concurrently under investigation, has raised serious questions about ethical conduct within the government.

Tunji-Ojo, a confidant and friend of Edu, acknowledged ownership of the company in question during a Channels TV interview. Despite asserting that he resigned as a director from the company, concerns persist that his association may have violated civil service and procurement rules. The Minister also disclosed that his wife currently manages the company, adding another layer to the controversy.

As the CCB delves into this intricate web of allegations, the spotlight intensifies on the intersection of personal interests and public duties within the corridors of power. Watch this space for unfolding developments on this evolving story.
