Edu Gate: Tinubu Summons Interior Minister and Tunji-Ojo for Clarification

By Mohammed Bello Doka

In a surprising turn of events, President Bola Tinubu has called upon Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo to address concerns regarding a hefty N438 million consultancy fee paid to New Planet Project Limited. The summoning comes in the wake of allegations connecting the company to the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Betta Edu.

As reported by Politics Nigeria, the payment in question is part of the N3 billion in contracts awarded by Edu for the National Social Register project, aimed at facilitating cash transfers and other social investment programs. New Planet Project Limited initially received N279 million for list verification and an additional N159 million for the same purpose.

The unfolding scandal has raised eyebrows and prompted a high-level meeting at Aso Rock, where Tinubu seeks clarification on the matter. As the nation awaits further details, questions surrounding the transparency and legitimacy of such consultancy fees within government contracts continue to stir public discourse.
