Edo 2024: Shaibu Asserts Competence as He Submits PDP Governorship Nomination

Wadata Plaza, Abuja - In a confident declaration of his readiness for the challenge, Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu, submitted his Governorship Nomination Form at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja on Thursday, positioning himself as the most qualified and competent candidate for the upcoming 2024 governorship election.

With a deep understanding of the state's needs as a native, Shaibu emphasized his commitment to transforming Edo State for the better and ensuring robust development. He spoke passionately about his vision to work for the people, urging those who believe in his capacity to support his candidacy.

As he handed over the nomination form, Shaibu urged the people of Edo to resist any attempts to reintroduce godfatherism through external influences. "I have come to submit our nomination form. The Philip Shaibu campaign represents the people of Edo," he stated.

Highlighting the journey that began in 2006 to reclaim the state for its people, Shaibu acknowledged the challenges faced and successes achieved in returning power to the people. He expressed concern over a perceived threat to governance, vowing to resist any move to hand over control to businessmen.

Facing allegations of harassment and intimidation, Shaibu maintained his determination, emphasizing his unique understanding of Edo State's government due to his legislative experience and eight years as deputy governor. "I am not running for governor due to personal ambition but to save Edo State from businessmen seeking to take control," he asserted.

Hon. Pascal Adigwe, the Deputy National Organizing Secretary of the PDP, representing the National Working Committee (NWC), commended Shaibu's developmental achievements. Recognizing Shaibu's seasoned electoral experience, Adigwe expressed confidence in the deputy governor's ability to conduct a race with integrity.

As the political landscape in Edo unfolds, Shaibu's submission of the nomination form marks a significant step in the PDP's selection process, setting the stage for a dynamic and competitive governorship election in 2024.
