In a poignant display of dissent, a group of anti-war activists convened at Times Square in New York City and outside the White House in Washington late on Thursday to protest the United States and the United Kingdom's military actions in Yemen. The demonstration also marked a condemnation of the ongoing aggression in Gaza.
Local media sources confirmed that dozens of activists gathered, expressing their vehement opposition to what they perceive as American-British aggression against Yemen, which they fear may further escalate tensions in the already war-torn region of Gaza.
Chants of "hands off the Middle East," "hands off Yemen," and "hands off Gaza" echoed through Times Square as protesters voiced their disapproval. At the White House, demonstrators waved Palestinian flags and brandished banners with messages such as "Free Palestine" and "stop bombing Yemen."
The strikes in Yemen, described as one of the most significant escalations in the Gaza conflict since its eruption in October, have drawn attention globally. In a joint statement, the U.S. and its allies asserted that there was no intention to escalate tensions, yet the protesters remain skeptical of the potential consequences.
The demonstration in Times Square and outside the White House serves as a poignant reminder of the ongoing global concern over conflicts in the Middle East, with activists like Najat passionately advocating for peace and urging a reconsideration of military actions in the region.
