In a press release issued by the State House, Vice President Kashim Shettima emphasized the essential role played by the private sector in supporting and strengthening the Nigerian government. He specifically highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's commitment to creating an environment conducive to entrepreneurship and innovation.
The Vice President stated that President Tinubu's vision for Nigeria is rooted in eight priority areas, which include poverty eradication, economic growth, job creation, and equitable access to capital. These priorities reflect the President's determination to foster an environment that nurtures the private sector.
During a recent visit to Anambra State, Vice President Shettima commissioned several projects, including the Ijele 93.1 FM Radio Station, Phase Two of the SEOF Touch-a-Life Housing Project, and the AEMSL Meter Factory. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of involving the private sector in government initiatives, stating that without the support and collaboration of the target audience, the government cannot achieve its objectives.
Vice President Shettima commended Anambra State for its private sector-driven development and pledged the federal government's support in addressing the state's ecological challenges. He praised Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for his understanding of the crucial role played by a thriving private sector, saying that Soludo's knowledge is not only theoretical but has also been gained through real-world experiences.
The Vice President also commended Dr. Emeka Offor, the Chairman of Chrome Group and Founder of Sir Emeka Offor Foundation (SEOF), for his contributions to the development of Anambra State. He highlighted Offor's investments, which have created jobs, improved infrastructure, and provided essential services to the people of the state. Shettima described Offor as a patriotic individual who is dedicated to making Nigeria a better place.
Highlighting the importance of the private sector in nation building, Vice President Shettima explained that the hope promised by the Tinubu administration can only be realized in an environment that facilitates the translation of innovative ideas into action. He emphasized the indispensability of the partnership between the federal government and each state in nurturing an environment conducive to entrepreneurial growth and innovation.
During his visit, the Vice President also took an aerial view of gully erosion sites in Anambra State and was briefed on the state government's efforts to address this issue, which has caused significant damage to infrastructure and farmlands. Shettima assured the state government of the federal government's support by providing both financial and technical assistance to implement suitable solutions.
Vice President Shettima reiterated the federal government's commitment to Anambra State's economic development. He pledged to work alongside the state government in addressing challenges, such as gully erosion, and improving road infrastructure. Emphasizing the significance of Anambra State within the country's economy, the Vice President stated that interventions would be geared towards sustaining its position as an industrial and economic powerhouse.
The Vice President's visit to Anambra State was met with a warm reception from key figures, including Governor Soludo, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, Senator Victor Umeh, Senator Osita Izunaso, and Dr. Emeka Offor.
