Despite Orji's attempts to curb Femi's unwavering support for Buhari, the latter's loyalty persisted. Orji faced scrutiny within PDP's BOT meeting, summoned to explain his reluctance to dismiss Femi. With a composed smile, Orji defended Femi's independence, emphasizing the importance of allowing those who work under us to think differently.
In an unexpected turn, Orji not only permitted Femi to continue using the newspaper platform but also stood by him when Buhari assumed the presidency. When Orji faced legal challenges, including imprisonment, Femi, now appointed as a senior Media Aid by Buhari, rallied support for his former boss. Engaging senior lawyers and stakeholders, Femi played a pivotal role in securing an unprecedented U-turn by the Supreme Court, leading to Orji's release.
Today, Orji Uzo Kalu has returned to active politics, holding the esteemed position of a Senator in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The tale of Orji and Femi serves as a poignant reminder that individuals who may differ politically can, in unforeseen circumstances, become indispensable allies. It underscores the essence of embracing diverse perspectives and fostering relationships that transcend transient political differences.
