Chief Femi Fani Kayode, the Sadaukin Shinkafi, has recently found himself at the center of controversy in certain sections of the social and traditional media. Some social media platforms have attempted to portray him as an enemy of the North and Islam, causing a stir and mixed reactions among the public.
In response to these claims, I would like to shed some light on the matter and set the record straight. As someone from the ancient Kingdom of Shinkafi, where Chief Fani Kayode holds the traditional title of the Sadaukin Shinkafi, I feel compelled to address the misconceptions surrounding his relationship with the North and Islam.
It is important to note that based on tradition, I consider Chief Fani Kayode as a fellow comrade, in the Kingdom of His Highness the Emir of Shinkafi and, by extension, the Sultan of Sokoto, who is the custodian of the Othman Empire of Sokoto.
Now, let us delve into the reasons why I strongly disagree with the notion that Chief Fani Kayode is an enemy of the North and Islam. Firstly, why would he accept a traditional title in the Northern and Islamic kingdom of Shinkafi if he harbored deep animosity towards the North and Islam?
Furthermore, Chief Fani Kayode has invested significant energy, time, and resources to further the objectives of the Islamic kingdom of Shinkafi, a commitment expected of all traditional title holders. He proudly flaunts his title of Sadaukin Shinkafi and has never belittled the position, the Emirate, or its people.
If Chief Fani Kayode truly bore ill will towards the North and Islam, then why would he dedicate his efforts in supporting a Muslim-Muslim ticket during a time when ethnocentric and religious divisions were prevalent in the country? He fervently backed the Tinubu-Shetima ticket and remains a vocal supporter of the government and its policies to date.
Moreover, Chief Fani Kayode has consistently offered support to prominent Northern politicians, such as Mai Mala Buni, Bello Matawalle, Kashim Shettima, among others. His contributions to the ongoing crises in Palestine cannot be overlooked, as he has voiced his condemnation of the brutal murder of civilians by both Israel and Hamas.
It is worth noting that Chief Fani Kayode's unwavering commitment to speaking truth to power has earned him powerful enemies. However, he remains a rare gem who stands firm in his convictions. To be continued...
