Abdullahi Yakasai Visits Betta Edu, Makes a Case For North Western Region

In a bid to address the pressing humanitarian crisis in the North Western region of the country, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, Hon. Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai, paid a courtesy call to the Honorable Minister for Humanitarian Affairs, Poverty Alleviation, and Disaster Management, Hon. Mrs. Betta Edu, in her office in Abuja.

During the meeting, the SSAP and the Minister engaged in a fruitful discussion on how their respective offices could collaborate to foster a strategic relationship in addressing the challenges faced by the region. 

The North Western region has been plagued by rampant banditry, kidnapping, and other forms of insecurity, leaving hundreds of thousands of people homeless and in dire need of urgent humanitarian assistance.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the Minister requested that the meeting be adjourned until next week to allow for a more comprehensive discussion and planning. 

This decision reflects the Minister's commitment to ensuring that all aspects of the crisis are thoroughly addressed and that the partnership between the two offices is effectively utilized to bring relief to the affected communities.

In addition to the meeting with the Minister, the SSAP also held a brief strategic meeting with the Technical Assistant to the Honorable Minister, Dr. Suleiman, to further discuss the same topic. Dr. Suleiman expressed the need for another meeting next week, which would involve all relevant agencies, to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive approach to tackling the humanitarian challenges in the North Western region.

The visit by the SSAP to the Minister's office highlights the government's commitment to addressing the pressing issues faced by the North Western region.

By fostering a strategic partnership between the Office of the SSAP and the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Poverty Alleviation, and Disaster Management, it is hoped that a coordinated and effective response can be implemented to provide much-needed relief to the affected communities.
