The recently elected National Women Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Mrs. Mary Alile had since hit the ground running on her mandate of galvanizing Nigerian women to work assiduously for the realization of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Bola Tinubu led administration.
One of her strategies to achieve her goals for the party is the recent appointments of Eighteen Special Assistants on Mobilization in her home Edo State. The appointees are saddled with the responsibility of connecting and mobilizing women at the grassroots to grow the party's membership strength.
Comr. Victoria Emike Okhai is one of the eighteen representing Etsako Central. A graduate of Banking and Finance from the prestigious University of Benin, was born into the Okhai's family of Udaba - Ekperi in Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State.
She is a politician, an entrepreneur, a girl child and women development advocate. She actively began participating in politics from her undergraduate days at the University of Benin where she served a record breaking two tenures as Vice President, BAFSAN University of Benin between 2012 and 2014. Today she is an active member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Her passion to help develop and enhance the skills of young girls and women as well as educate them on their rights spurred her into establishing an NGO called Fulfilling Her Dreams Initiative.
Since 2016, she has carried out several voluntary social and community-based development projects where she provided Healthcare support for pregnant women in rural areas and other free health care services, organized mental health sensitization and awareness programs for women, provided educational materials for indigent children, and also organized sensitization programs on Illegal Migration in partnership with the Edo State Government, to mention but a few.
As an entrepreneur, she is the Chief Executive Director of Delight Sparkles- A fast growing business specialized in the production of household cleaning products and rendering of professional cleaning services. Her highly patronized products are specially designed to meet the demand for household and commercial cleaning needs with dominance in several prominent shopping malls and supermarkets across Nigeria.
Delight Sparkles has production Factories in Edo and Lagos States and has also conducted several training programs for Government bodies, NGOs and private companies in Nigeria.
In addition to her degree in Banking and Finance, she holds a Diploma in Leadership and Management Styles at TIAS Netherlands, a Certificate in Basics of International Relations from John Academy Netherlands, a Certificate in Professional Project Management from the Project Management Institute of Nigeria, she is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Leadership and Governance, to mention but a few.
In 2016, Victoria was a Member APC Ad hoc Committee on Election Petition in Edo State. Same year she served as Data Analyst APC Situation Room during the 2016 Edo State Governorship election. She was Secretary Planning Committee of the Edo North Women Conference in 2022. During the 2020 Edo State Governorship election, Victoria was the APC Edo North Female Youth Coordinator as well as a member of the APC Youths and Students Mobilization Committee. She recently served as the APC Youth Mobilizer and Party Agent of Udabar Ward 8 in Etsako during the recently held general elections in Nigeria.
The young lady has gained lots of work experiences including working as Personal Assistant to a former Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship Development in UNIBEN and a former Managing Director Edo State Skills Development Agency (Edo Jobs).
She has strongly networked with high- profiled professionals across various fields both locally and internationally. So there is indeed no doubt that the appointment of Victoria Emike Okhai by the APC National Women is a round peg in a round hole. She deserves to be watched out for.
