June 12: Tinubu From A Fugitive From Justice To A Sanctuary Of Hope.

By Mohammed Bello Doka
The true essence of struggle is embedded in the joy of freedom. Alas, not all comrades live to witness the fruits of their struggles.  Today is not only June 12 but also a democracy day with a June 12 activist as a President of a country He was hitherto a fugitive from,  running away for his dear life.

Such a happy moment indeed for lovers of democracy across the country and the world at large.

Thanks to the struggle of so many believers of democracy, men and women of courage, dedication and conviction who sacrificed everything to ensure that we have the democracy we're enjoying today.

Undoubtedly, President Tinubu will be one of the happiest men alive today, not only because of his position as the President of Africa's largest economy but also because of the long route it takes to arrive at the gate of freedom.

Along the line, many have paid the supreme price, many were permanently deformed, many lost to oblivion with only a few who dared to knock at the gate of destiny and have a triumphant entry into the new dawn of democracy, rule of law and celebration of the dignity and the sanctity of human life.

It wouldn't be an independent day without the efforts of people like the late Beko Ransom Kuti, Dele Giwa, Professor Wole Soyinka and above all President Tinubu among many other dogged fighters who sacrificed their comfort in exchange for freedom.

President Tinubu will undoubtedly be a happy and fulfilled man today for not only surviving the whiskers of death, but also by defying the odds and winning the crown that once threatened his very existence.

Congratulations Mr. President, congratulations Nigerians.
