In one of the most courageous art of Governance, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has dissolved a whooping 160 Boards of Parastatals.
The move is considered for various reasons, ranging from consolidation of power, engagement of loyal faithfuls who will faithfully execute Government policy and a need to reward party faithfuls.
The dissolution means that over 2000 board appointments are open to APC members. Abuja Network News finds out that party faithfuls are already jostling for the appointment in the vacancies.
It remains unclear when the new appointments will be announced, amidst intense lobbying by members and party faithfuls.
It is expected that President Tinubu will focus on rewarding party faithfuls rather than throwing what belongs to the children to the Dogs.
The dissolution also means until the affected government establishments get new heads, the president has a duty of handling pressing issues that ideally would have been the responsibilities of the boards in addition to his normal role – Ronald Adamolekun June 20, 2023
It is also expected that the number and size of the Federal Government's Boards of Parastatals will reduce in size and number considering the planned merger of some key institutions.
A roadmap to Nigeria’s economic revamp for the new administration, drawn by a presidential advisory team last month, proposed the unification of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, the Customs, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency into a single entity to be known as the Nigerian Revenue Service (NRS)- Premium Times
