I hope this message gets to you in peace. My fervent prayer for you is that may all your efforts, aimed at setting this nation on the path of economic prosperity, come to pass. May all you lay your hands upon succeed. May we all see the Nigeria of our dream in our lifetime.
Your Excellency, I wish to write on behalf of millions of Nigerians, who sincerely believe in your leadership and are of incurable optimism that, under your leadership, Nigerians will heave a sigh of relief from the clutches of bad governance and debilitating effects of maladministration.
Baba, let me state further that, right from the onset of your wish to become the president of Nigeria, many of us have shown untiring doggedness and staunch resilience that, come rain, come shine, we will continuously throw our weight behind you till you achieve your age-long desire. Many of us are your longtime admirers and fanatical supporters. We are the real Buharists.
In 2003, we voted for you (APP) against PDP. In 2007, we voted for you (ANPP) against PDP. In 2011, we voted for you (CPC) against PDP. In 2015, we voted for you (APC) against PDP. In 2015, we assisted you, through our votes, to achieve your heartfelt desire. Afterwards, we did not relent. In 2019, we still voted for you against PDP for a second term in office, and you gallantly won.
Baba Buhari, since your enthronement as the president, let me state it clearly - many of us have not benefited anything personal, either through political appointments or monetary rewards. Funnily, some people ignorantly accuse us that we are members of Buhari Media Centre (BMC). We remain committed and patriotic to this laudable cause, because we firmly believe that Nigeria is on the right course and on a glorious path to national economic growth.
Sir, if no one has told you, may we use this medium to tell you that, in spite of your monumental achievements, the current CBN policy on naira redesign is fast eroding your hard-earned goodwill among your eternal constituents (the masses). Nigerians are groaning in excruciating economic pains. Commercial activities in the informal sector are systematically grinding to a screeching halt.
Baba Buhari, if any of your aides or appointees tells you that people are happy with you, they are being economical with the truth. People are losing confidence in your leadership. Baba, you are making it hard for us to convince the teeming population of the Nigerian masses that you are their true and caring friend.
Sir, without mincing words, this policy is anti masses, and it should be either reversed or reviewed. The disadvantages of the policy outweigh its advantages. That is just the frank truth we need to tell you. We need not pretend that all is well with our people. Nigerians are going through harrowing experience before having access to cash.
Mr President, the worst part of this unpopular policy is that it is happening at a crucial time - electioneering period. Members of the opposition party have weaponised this policy to make unmerited and undeserved political gains. All your lofty legacies, which we are so proud of, will be rubbished if Atiku, God forbid, becomes the president. You will be embarrassed and disgraced by PDP. Baba, let me assure you that you will be demonised to the extent that you will doubt yourself.
Our Dear Incorruptible President, the Maigaskia of Our Time, these are our concerns. We believe that the CBN Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, is not acting in isolation. There are some unseen hands manipulating the system to the detriment of your lovely image and the wellness of the masses. Their plot is to bring APC down. Their diabolical wish is to disrupt the electoral process and turn the people against our Party. They think they are hurting Tinubu. Unfortunately, the masses are the worst hurt.
In conclusion, Mr President, kindly find a lasting solutions to these lingering crises and put an end to this unnecessary or man-made crisis. This policy needs to be redesigned. We strongly believe in your leadership. We are sure that you will listen to the voice of wisdom. God bless Nigeria.
