The director of special operation and New Media directorate of the APC Presidential campaign council Chief Femi Fani Kayode has described the central bank governor Mr. Godwin Emefile as an Enemy of democracy who has weaponised the CBN and using same in oder to derail the upcoming elections.
Mr. Fani Kayode also accused the CBN Governor of trying to provoke the people into an uprising which will lead to chaos that will make the conduct of the election impossible.
Mr. Kayode made these allegations on a post on his verified twitter handle where he also called on the government to canceled the process of swapping the Naira notes till after the elections in oder for the process to be done lawfully.
" He has no plans to release enough new naira notes any time soon. He wants to starve the people of cash and drive them to rage out of frustration " he said.
"This is not about politics but about stoking up protest and revolution. This is subversion and destabilisations. He must be stopped and caged.
In similar vein the house of representatives accused the central bank of contravening section 20 subsection 3, 4,5 of the CBN act. It could be recalled that few days ago the House of representatives reject the extension for the collection of the old Naira notes granted by the CBN saying the apex bank need to comply with the above provisions of the law.
People from all walks of life has questioned the CBN's motive in rushing with the said policy with many calling the apex bank to slow down and give ample time for people to swap their old notes in oder not to add unnecessary hardship to Nigerians.
It could be recalled how Abuja Network News reported the impact of the policy and how it grounded financial activities across the length and breadth of the FCT due to the scarcity of the New notes.
