The Lugbe Community Security Committee has commended the Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory, CP Muhammed Sanusi Ahmed, for what it described as decisive leadership and a renewed security drive that led to a successful operation against suspected drug dealers and other criminal elements in parts of Lugbe.
In a letter of appreciation signed by the Chairman of the committee, Bakwai Doka, the community particularly praised the Police Commissioner for issuing clear directives for the Lugbe Divisional Police Headquarters to collaborate with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in tackling illicit drug activities around Lugbe Federal Housing and the Lugbe New Site Estate Gate.
According to the committee, the success of the operation demonstrated the importance of firm leadership and effective coordination among security agencies, particularly at a time when residents had raised concerns over activities capable of threatening peace and security in the area.
The committee said the directive of the Commissioner of Police provided the impetus for the operation, which was subsequently executed by the Divisional Police Officer of Lugbe Division, CSP Uchenna, with the support of five Helix and VGN personnel.
It noted that the team carried out the exercise despite challenges and resistance from some individuals who allegedly attempted to obstruct the operation.
The community leaders consequently applauded CSP Uchenna for complying with the Commissioner's directive and providing the operational leadership required to implement it successfully.
Beyond the anti-drug operation, the committee also acknowledged ongoing efforts by the police authorities to improve security and public order in Lugbe, including interventions relating to motorcycle operations and highway hold-ups that had previously caused difficulties for residents and motorists.
The committee said the measures have contributed to restoring order and improving the security situation within the affected communities.
It further claimed that criminal elements who had caused insecurity and disturbances around Lugbe Federal Housing and Lugbe New Site had been flushed out following the security operation.
While expressing appreciation to the DPO and personnel who participated in the exercise, the committee reserved particular praise for CP Muhammed Sanusi Ahmed, describing the operation as an example of how directives from the FCT Police Command can translate into tangible security improvements at the community level when effectively implemented.
The Lugbe Community Security Committee urged the Commissioner to sustain the momentum and continue supporting coordinated security operations aimed at tackling drug-related activities, criminality and other threats to residents.
“The community is grateful for this positive development,” the committee stated, while calling for continued police presence and sustained security interventions to ensure lasting peace in Lugbe and its environs.
