A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by former Senate President David Mark is currently holding talks with a bloc of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) associated with Kabiru Turaki in Abuja, in what observers see as a fresh attempt to realign opposition forces ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The high-level meeting, which is ongoing behind closed doors, comes at a time when both parties are grappling with internal leadership disputes and factional divisions that have weakened their cohesion and electoral strength.

The ADC has in recent months faced internal wrangling following the emergence of rival leadership claims, with the David Mark-led bloc insisting on restructuring the party to broaden its national appeal. Similarly, the PDP has been battling prolonged crises, including disputes over party leadership, zoning arrangements, and defections of key figures.
