As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, stakeholders in Ife Federal Constituency have been urged to prioritize experience, loyalty, and strategic influence in choosing their next representative at the National Assembly.
A former councillor in Ilode 1, Ife East Local Government, Hon. Deji Adefisayo, has thrown his weight behind former lawmaker, Hon. Rotimi Makinde, describing him as a tested and dependable figure within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Adefisayo noted that Makinde’s long-standing relationship with the APC distinguishes him from what he described as “newcomers” to the party, adding that such loyalty has positioned him for effective advocacy and delivery of tangible benefits to the constituency.
According to him, Makinde’s deep-rooted connections within the APC caucus at both state and federal levels would serve as a strategic advantage for Ife Federal Constituency, especially in attracting developmental projects and influencing policy decisions.
He further highlighted Makinde’s legislative experience, describing him as a familiar figure at the National Assembly and someone well-acquainted with the corridors of power, including the presidency. This, he said, would ensure faster response and execution of constituency-based initiatives.
Adefisayo also recalled Makinde’s role in initiating the South West Agenda for 2023 (SWAGA 23) as far back as 2020, which he said demonstrated foresight and commitment to regional political and economic advancement.
“As 2027 approaches, Ife Federal Constituency must get it right to secure maximum benefits in the next dispensation. Party leaders must reward loyalty and dedication rather than уступing opportunities to opportunistic entrants,” he said.
He cautioned party stakeholders against supporting candidates driven by financial influence, urging grassroots members to rally behind credible and committed leaders.
Adefisayo concluded by calling on constituents to support Makinde’s potential bid, expressing confidence that his representation would strengthen democratic dividends and accelerate development across Ife and its environs.
