Former member of the House of Representatives and APC deputy governorship hopeful Osun 2026 Hon. Rotimi Makinde, has cautioned residents of Ife Federal Constituency against what he described as attempts to mislead the people through “superficial” development projects.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, Makinde criticised the pace and timing of recent projects in Ife, alleging that they amount to political window dressing rather than genuine development. He warned that no community could achieve sustainable growth in isolation from the Federal Government of Nigeria, stressing that uneven access to federal support could lead to marginalisation.
The lawmaker accused the administration of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, of rushing projects to score political points, claiming that local communities were being used as “pawns in a game of desperation to cling to power.”
Makinde maintained that true development must be inclusive and coordinated with federal authorities, rather than driven by short-term political considerations. He assured constituents that an All Progressives Congress-led government, working closely with the federal government, would prioritise community participation, fairness, and long-term planning in development projects.
He urged residents of Ife to remain vigilant, insisting that sustainable growth and equitable representation should take precedence over what he described as hurried and politically motivated interventions.
