Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has dismissed reports suggesting a breakdown in his relationship with former Minister of Defence, Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (rtd), describing the claims as false, misleading and politically motivated.
The governor said his relationship with the elder statesman remains strong, cordial and built on mutual respect, insisting there has been no disagreement or fallout between them. He blamed the rumours on detractors and political mischief-makers attempting to create unnecessary tension and confusion within the state.
Kefas made the clarification while addressing traditional rulers and other stakeholders, stressing that Danjuma remains a respected leader and father figure whose counsel is valued. He added that there has been no disruption in communication or cooperation between both men.
The speculation had gained traction following political developments in the state, including shifting alliances and visits by prominent political figures to Danjuma, which some interpreted as signs of a rift. However, sources close to the Danjuma family have also dismissed such claims, saying the retired general has not expressed any displeasure with the governor’s actions or political choices.
Observers say the governor’s clarification is aimed at dousing tension and reassuring the public, given Danjuma’s influence and standing in Taraba State politics ahead of future electoral contests.
