The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), , has openly pledged his support for the re-election bid of President in 2027, deepening political realignments ahead of the next general election.
The pledge was disclosed by Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, , who said the minister made the declaration on Saturday while meeting with stakeholders of the (PDP) in Ochigba community, .
According to Olayinka, Wike reaffirmed that his political support for Tinubu was deliberate and unwavering, noting that he stood by the president even when it was politically difficult during the 2023 elections. He urged his supporters and allies to remain resolute, stressing that loyalty and consistency were critical in politics.
Wike reportedly told the gathering that his camp supported Tinubu at a time many distanced themselves, particularly in Rivers State, and insisted that the decision was based on principle rather than convenience. He also hinted that preparations toward the 2027 general elections would commence early, urging stakeholders to stay united and focused.
The declaration is significant given Wike’s status as a long-standing PDP powerbroker who currently serves in an administration led by the ruling (APC). His continued alignment with Tinubu has further widened internal divisions within the PDP, especially in Rivers State, where party structures remain sharply polarized.
Political observers see Wike’s endorsement as part of an early positioning for 2027, with potential implications for voting patterns in the South-South region and the broader opposition landscape.
