Troops from Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), operating under the Joint Task Force North East, have achieved a significant breakthrough in Borno State as part of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts. In a statement, the Media Information Officer of the Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, confirmed that the troops rescued 86 kidnapping victims and arrested 29 individuals supplying logistics to the insurgents.
According to Uba, on 9 November 2025 the 135 Special Forces Battalion — operating under Sector 2 of Operation Hadin Kai — engaged terrorists from Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) at Dutse Kura, after intelligence revealed abductions of civilians and vehicles along the Buratai–Kamuya Road. The troops thwarted the attack, pursued the insurgents toward Mangari and engaged them near a camp, forcing them to flee in disarray. A search of the area revealed 11 makeshift terrorist structures and the rescued hostages — men, women and children — totaling 86.
Recovered from the terrorists’ camp were:
- One AK-47 rifle, five magazines (73 rounds), four PKT ammunition belts
- Five civilian vehicles, five motorcycles, eight bicycles, and two logistics tricycles
The terrorists’ camp was destroyed in place following clearance operations.
Simultaneously, at Mangada troops intercepted and arrested 29 logistics suppliers headed toward Chilaria. Items recovered included two pickup vans and a tricycle loaded with about 1,000 litres of petrol in jerry-cans, four gallons of engine oil, two new gun-truck tyres, a substantial cache of medical supplies, and large quantities of foodstuffs and provisions.
The statement noted that all operations were conducted without casualties among our troops. The Military High Command commended the gallantry and professionalism of the troops and urged Operation Hadin Kai to sustain its offensive to deny terrorists freedom of action across the Northeast theatre.
This operation underscores renewed momentum in the security campaign in Borno State, disrupting terrorist logistics networks and freeing civilians from captivity. As the counter-insurgency fight continues, military officials say such successes are critical to restoring stability in affected communities.
