In a renewed bid to foster inter-agency synergy and enhance operational readiness, the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) on Friday, October 31, 2025, led a Joint Route March in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.
The march, which began in the early hours of the day, brought together officers and men from various security outfits, including the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Nigeria Immigration Service, Taraba Marshal, and the Nigerian Red Cross Society.
The joint exercise was designed to promote physical fitness, discipline, teamwork, and unity among the different security formations operating within Taraba State. It also provided a platform for personnel to interact beyond their operational duties, thereby deepening understanding and cooperation in the collective fight against insecurity.
Addressing participants before the commencement of the march, Commander 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, emphasized that the exercise represented more than just a routine fitness activity.
“Today’s route march is not just about fitness. It is a demonstration of our strength, unity, and readiness to defend our nation at all times. It reminds us that discipline, teamwork, and endurance remain the hallmarks of our profession. As we step off, let us march with pride, purpose, and mutual respect, showing the people of Taraba and Nigeria that the security forces remain united, alert, and mission-ready,”
Brigadier General Uwa stated.
Residents of Jalingo who lined the streets to witness the colourful display of unity commended the initiative, describing it as a morale-boosting gesture that would help build confidence among citizens about the coordinated efforts of security agencies to safeguard lives and property.
The march covered major streets across the city, with officers seen chanting songs of solidarity and discipline, reinforcing the message of cooperation and mutual respect among sister agencies.
Brigadier General Uwa further revealed that the exercise will be conducted monthly, except when operational exigencies dictate otherwise. He reiterated the Army’s commitment to working closely with other security bodies to ensure that peace and stability continue to reign across Taraba State and the nation at large.
The joint route march, coming at a time when Nigeria continues to face complex security challenges, underscores the determination of the armed forces and their partners to maintain vigilance, unity, and readiness in the service of the nation.
