🔴 When APC’s Felix Morka attacked Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, he expected silence. What he got instead is a painful reminder that Nigerians have not forgotten APC’s hypocrisy, selective justice, and economic cruelty. Tambuwal spoke the truth — and the truth is what Morka fears most.
The latest press statement by Felix Morka, National Publicity Secretary of the APC, is less a defense of governance and more a desperate smear job against Aminu Waziri Tambuwal. In his now-famous interview, Tambuwal did what true patriots do: he raised the alarm over APC’s creeping authoritarianism, its weaponization of state power, and its deliberate attempts to cripple the opposition. Rather than answer these concerns with facts, Morka resorted to name-calling, selective memory, and a tired attempt at blackmail.
Tambuwal’s record speaks louder than Morka’s propaganda. As Speaker of the House of Representatives, he stood firmly against President Jonathan’s unconstitutional plan to suspend and replace a sitting governor, insisting that the constitution provided no such power. That was a moment of courage, a defense of Nigeria’s fragile democracy. Yet today, under the same constitution, Morka and his fellow travelers are applauding the illegal suspension and replacement of an elected governor in Rivers State. That is the height of hypocrisy — defending the constitution when convenient, but celebrating dictatorship when APC is in power.
Tambuwal accused APC of selective justice and intimidation of opponents — and Nigerians know this to be true. Consider the case of former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa. Accused of looting over ₦1 trillion, he should have been battling EFCC investigations. Instead, once he decamped to APC, his sins vanished overnight. This is not speculation but part of a disgraceful tradition confirmed by Adams Oshiomhole, while serving as APC National Chairman: “Join APC and your sins are forgiven.” Abdullahi Ganduje, also as APC National Chairman, went further, openly admiring China’s one-party state as a model for Nigeria. What does that tell Nigerians, if not that APC’s ultimate ambition is the death of multiparty democracy?
Tambuwal also warned of APC’s violent streak, and reality has vindicated him. From Kogi, Kaduna, Kebbih to Lagos, opposition leaders have been brutalized by APC thugs. When ADC leaders were attacked in Kogi or when Labour’s Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour was targeted in Lagos, the world saw the lengths APC is willing to go to silence critics. These are not “allegations” as Morka dismisses them — they are facts, written in blood and bruises.
Meanwhile, Nigerians are suffocating under APC’s economic mismanagement. Petrol now sells between ₦950 and ₦1,050 per liter, yet instead of relief, this government is preparing to impose a fresh 5% tax by January. Families are sinking, inflation is choking households, and unemployment continues to soar. Is this the “progress” Morka celebrates? Tambuwal did not invent these realities; he merely gave voice to the suffering millions that APC has chosen to ignore.
And while Morka tries to paint Tambuwal as a man running from EFCC scrutiny, the truth is even more damning for APC. The EFCC itself has become a blunt instrument of political persecution, sparing those who pledge loyalty to APC while hounding those who dare to question power. Selective justice is injustice, and Nigerians can see through the charade.
Even outside Nigeria, APC’s reputation is in tatters. A Canadian court once went as far as describing APC as a terrorist organization. That is how the world sees the party Morka so proudly defends — not as a model of democracy, but as a dangerous machine of impunity.
Tambuwal’s critique is therefore not only genuine but necessary. He has consistently shown courage in moments when Nigeria’s democracy was under threat. APC, on the other hand, has perfected the art of impunity, propaganda, and political thuggery. Morka can spin, insult, and deflect, but the truth remains: Tambuwal spoke for the people, while APC continues to act against them.
The real threat to Nigeria is not Tambuwal’s interview — it is APC’s actions. Nigerians are watching, they are suffering, and they will remember.
