Abuja, Nigeria — Members of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), now operating as the CPC–Aqida block loyal to former President Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday, September 12, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the National Leader of the Buhari CPC in the coalition within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Abubakar Malami, SAN, at his office in Abuja.
The delegation declared their loyalty to Malami, aligning themselves with his new political direction in the ADC and describing him as the natural custodian of the Buhari CPC legacy within the coalition.
The delegation included Hon. Abdulsalam Uba Jogana, Hon. Magaji Ya’u Indabawa, Hon. Baba Aminu Gaya, Hon. Aminu Ibrahim Danhassan, Hon. Mukhtari Gwarzo, Hon. Arch. Nura Zubairu, and Yusuf Mamman Bature.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Hon. Magaji Ya’u Indabawa said the CPC-Aqida members had resolved to rally fully behind Malami, stressing that his rising political relevance represents the continuation of Buhari’s ideals of justice, integrity, and progressive governance.
“We are here to reaffirm our loyalty to you, Sir. The CPC-Aqida block in Kano, loyal to President Muhammadu Buhari, now aligns fully with your leadership in the ADC. We see you as the true political heir of the Buhari tradition, and we believe your leadership will shape the political landscape as the nation moves toward 2027,” Indabawa said.
In his remarks, Malami expressed appreciation for their solidarity, stressing that his leadership in the ADC is guided by the principles of inclusivity, fairness, and service to the people. He urged them to remain resolute in building a credible alternative platform capable of restoring Nigerians’ confidence in governance.
Political observers see the move as highly symbolic. The CPC-Aqida block in Kano, considered one of the strongest surviving structures of Buhari’s political machinery, openly aligning with Malami, firmly positions him as Buhari’s political heir within the ADC. With Kano’s massive electoral strength, the bloc’s loyalty significantly boosts Malami’s influence and places him at the center of opposition realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
