The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two men over the unlawful possession of three human skulls in the Ijebu area of the state.
In a statement issued in Abeokuta, the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, said the suspects were apprehended on Monday, August 11, 2025, during a routine stop-and-search operation by officers of the 71 PMF Awa Ijebu.
According to Odutola, the operation took place at about 2:00 pm along the Ijebu Ode/Ibadan Expressway at Refugees Camp Junction, Oru Ijebu, where a motorcycle rider identified as Kadir Owolabi was intercepted. A search of his luggage uncovered three human skulls, prompting immediate action from the officers.
“Following preliminary investigations, another suspect, 53-year-old Jamiu Yisa, was arrested behind the Ijebu Ode Local Government Secretariat,” Odutola said.
Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take over the case for discreet investigation.
The command reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on criminal activities and called on residents to support ongoing efforts to combat crime, assuring them of confidentiality and protection of their identities when providing information.
