The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, alongside other prominent party leaders, have arrived in Gusau, Zamfara State, ahead of a high-powered meeting scheduled for tomorrow.
The gathering, which is expected to draw PDP governors, stakeholders, and national officers, is part of ongoing consultations aimed at strengthening the party’s unity and repositioning it for future political contests.
Governor Bala, who has been vocal about the need for reconciliation and internal cohesion within the PDP, will be leading discussions on pressing national issues, party affairs, and the opposition’s strategy to checkmate the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Zamfara State, currently under the leadership of Governor Dauda Lawal of the PDP, is hosting the forum for the first time since his assumption of office. Party sources revealed that the choice of Gusau as venue is symbolic, given the state’s strategic position in the Northwest, a region considered crucial for PDP’s resurgence.
Political watchers believe the outcome of the meeting may set the tone for PDP’s direction ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly as the party continues to grapple with internal divisions and the task of presenting a united front.
A communiqué is expected at the end of the meeting, highlighting resolutions on governance, national security, economy, and internal party discipline.
